Strolling Near Colosseum

The Via dei Fori Imperiali which leads to the Colosseum is slowly giving more space to pedestrians. It is closed to vehicular traffic until 6pm on Sundays, and will one day hopefully be devoid of automobiles for good when (and if) plans to make the entire area an archeological park get carried through.

Bocca della Verità, Visitor

Someone approaches the “Mouth of Truth”, a sculpture of a human face carved from Pavonazzetto marble, thought to be part of a 1st century Roman fountain portraying pagan gods. Legend has it that if you tell a lie while your hand is in the Bocca della Verità’s mouth it will bite it off!
